Webheads
The past year has been marked by web developments and the webheads that have helped me develop
so I’m dedicating a whole page to the people I have never met face-to-face to face but people I communicate or “read” and now in SL “see” online weekly!
Vance Stevens who was instrumental in getting the virtual community networked and is a brilliant moderator. For an introduction and to meet the webheads see ths website started 5 years ago: http://www.geocities.com/vance_stevens/papers/evonline2002/webheads.htm
Very interesting comments and great set of links on SL on Vance Steven’s pages http://www.geocities.com/vance_stevens/secondlife_edu.htm
Gladys Baya and her great Learning With Computers Yahoo! Group that got going much more recently but really addresses the issue of “leave no one behind” and is very useful for the teachers who I train. The faster the developments and the more tech savvy we become, the easier it is to forget how daunting it can be for newcomers so LwC is great for those who are new to the world of online communities and using computers to learn (and teach). Their blog is http://learning-with-computers.blogspot.com/
Some other great webheads and their blogs or webpresence
Ruth, Claudia, Renata and Susan http://blogenough.blogspot.com/ a collaborative blog set up for the evo2006 blog session
Susan Nyrop in Denmark http://susny.edublogs.org/ in Danish
Susan Marandi http://susanmarandi.blogspot.com/
Barbara (Bee) Dieu – a really busy bee! http://beewebhead.net/ and founder of the great Dekita idea which highlights and showcases online writings and has an excahnage mechanism – very useful for the teachers and the students I teach!
Graham Stanley aka The King or Baldric Commons in SL hosts a brilliant blog and seems to have a finger in many pies and both hands and feet on many mouses and keyboards…. http://blog-efl.blogspot.com/
Elderbob (Robert Brannan) http://www.elderbob.com/ -the mad knowplace scientist who also seems to maintain 10 blogs!
Some webhead Second Life experiences
Snapshots of us all in SL http://henry.sandi.net/staff/cpauchni/Webhd2LF.html
Chatscripts of first SL get together in EduNation in SL http://webheadsinaction.org/blog/27
and of course last but not least Sheila Vine – my virtual colleague – who I met online and created an emoderator’s exchange with without ever meeting here. We met on the steps of the IATEFL Harrogate conference hall hours before presenting eChatBoX- A presentation I’m proud to have won the Learning Technologies SIG Travel Grant award for
Sheila started a blog for her IELTS students studying in Paderborn before they went off to study at Southampton Solent University.
